A British theater producer, who has produced a drama about homosexuals, has been deported to Britain from Uganda, while his local girlfriend and two children were left behind.
This person whose name is David Cecil, was arrested in September last year, since homosexuality is prohibited by law in Uganda. This drama is based on a story of a Gay businessman, who was assassinated by his employees.
This play was staged in Kampala at two theaters, without the prior approval from the authorities.
He was again arrested in Wednesday last week, on the grounds that,he is ‘an undesirable person’. According to the British Embassy, he was deported on Monday.
A British Foreign Office Spokesman has told the B.B.C. that, they are concerned that, he was deported, without giving an opportunity to appeal against the court order.
Since there is no legal protection for homosexuals in Uganda, they are subjected to social rejections and physical assaults.
