As the tension mounts between Britain and Argentina over the Falkland Islands, Britain is considering a series of Military alternatives.
These reports further say that, Britain will send additional troops, battleships and Typhoon combat planes to Falkland Islands if necessary, prior to the March referendum which decides the future of the islands.
Meanwhile, the Joint Headquarters in Northwood, North West London is planning to launch a military drill on the South Atlantic Ocean, to ‘show the power’.
As a more costing alternative, the 16th Air Assault Brigade, an Airborne Task Force consisting of 8000 soldiers from five infantry battalions, and Second and Fifth Battalions of the Parachute Regiment, will be deployed for the task.
Certain members of these military groups called ‘Para’,who have been trained in Spain for Surprise attacks, have returned home, after ‘Ordinary ‘tours in Falklands.
However, Britain believes that, Argentina has no political intentions or Military power, to recapture these islands, despite the increasing hostile rhetoric between the two countries.
British Prime Minister, David Cameron has told B.B.C. that steps will be taken to protect the Falkland Islands, if necessary. As 3000 residents of these islands are British, the March referendum is expected to receive a 100 percent ‘Yes’.
But the British Security sectors say that, they should get prepared for the sudden obstructions launched by Argentina.
Currently, the British army has deployed 1500 troops, 4 Typhoon Assault Aircrafts, anti aircraft guns and artillery batteries in the Falkland Islands.
Argentinian President Cristina De Kirchner, has reasserted Argentina’s claim over the Islands, in 2007, which was done following the 30th anniversary of the Falklands war and the detecting of oil reserves in the Falkland Islands.
