After years of sea researches, and missile launches, “Yuri Dolgoruky , the Borei Class nuclear powered submarine has joined the Russian Navy.
The ceremony of raising the Russian Navy colours on the submarine was held lead by Sergei Shoigu,  the Russian Defence Minister.This is the main vessel of the Borei Class as well as the most modern nuclear powered submarine, made in Russia.

This submarine was commissioned  in 1996, at a shipyard in Severodvinsk. The construction of this vessel was delayed for many years,due to the budget restraints and the changes of designs.
During 2008, it’s reactor was launched, while sea trials and testing of the Bulava Missiles were conducted between 2009 to 2012.Russia has taken steps to construct three more submarines if Borei Class.
Sister vessels  of “Yuri Dolgoruky ,named as “Aleksandr Navsky”, and “Vladimir Monomakh” are being constructed since 2004 and 2006 receptively.Several submarines of the new generation are due to join the Russian Navy in the future.
